At some point in our lives we want to be known for something. This started when we were little and were so selfish that we would raise our hand to the teacher so high when she would ask, ‘who worked this problem correctly?’ We all want to be known.
This idea of ‘being known’ is ever so present today in the modern world. We want more Facebook friends, we want more comments, we want more ‘likes’. But, it’s never enough, is it? We are never satisfied with what we have.
I see this with music stars, actors, and people of ‘importance’. They can make millions of dollars and have 10 number 1 box office movies or top ten Billboard songs. They still want more. A bigger house, bigger cars, better clothes.
Don’t we all realize that even the biggest of us, or at least those of us with the most ‘importance’, still only have ‘fifteen minutes of fame?’ But after the fame, then what?
I think the ‘then what’ is what we should be more interested in. When we are all stripped down, when there is no one interested in us anymore, who are we? We have become so consumed with all of our accolades that we don’t know how to cope when we are stripped down to our pure selves.
So I ask you today, without all of your ‘stuff’ and your baggage, who are you really? Is your heart in the right place, can you look in the mirror and like the person you have become? Just food for thought today amidst the chaos of today’s modern world.
Remember, whatever the circumstance, This Is The Life!
